Our Story
Serving the Victorian community since 2012
Victoria Maori Wardens Incorporated was established on 30 July 2012 to bring the trusted, community-focused work of Māori Wardens to Victoria. Māori Wardens have a long and respected history of voluntary service — supporting community safety, welfare and cultural life. Our members carry that legacy forward here in Australia.
From humble beginnings, our volunteers have become a familiar and welcome presence at community gatherings, cultural festivals, sporting events and compassionate services. We assist with crowd safety and traffic direction, provide a caring point of contact for those in need, and help different communities build lasting relationships.
Today we remain a small but committed charity, powered entirely by volunteers who believe in the power of manaakitanga — showing care, generosity and respect to everyone we serve.
Our Mission
To support the safety, wellbeing and cultural connection of our communities through voluntary service, compassionate care and the building of strong relationships across Victoria.
Our Vision
Thriving, connected communities where every person feels safe, respected and supported — and where cultural understanding brings people together.
How We Work
Trained volunteer wardens work in partnership with community groups, event organisers and families to provide practical, respectful and reliable support.
